Klemzig Village is a new facility close to the CBD with ample on-site parking space, 20-room GP clinic, pharmacy, clinpath, mental health, psychology, nutrition, IVF, cafe and more coming.
The Adelaide Specialist Clinic (ASC) is housed within Klemzig Village and has a team of qualified, experienced and committed medical specialists and surgeons that offers the highest level of personalized care. Our specialists and Surgeons are connected to our State public and private hospitals. The clinic opened in March for patients needing cardiology, general physician and surgical consultancy.
ASC is further building its team the coming months to offer a wide range of specialty areas to allow to optimize patients-centric care. The multi-specialty team will be expanding its services into Orthopaedics, Neurology, Gastroenterologists, Oncology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine, Endocrinology, Internal Medice and Infectious Diseases.
To further optimize the patient-centric care, ASC works closely with its partners at Klemzig Village: the GP Clinic, the mental health, psychology, sleep clinic, nutrition and IVF teams.

Dr Johan VerjansCardiologist
Dr Johan Verjans is a physician-scientist combining cutting-edge research and patient care as a Cardiologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He is the Director of Adelaide Specialist Clinic. He has a senior lecturer position at the University of Adelaide and Medical AI Theme Lead at SAHMRI Heart Health.
Shalvin PrasadGeneral Surgeon
Dr Prasad is an internationally trained and experienced Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric, General and Minimally Invasive Surgeon. His expertise is in management of:
• Gastrointestinal tract cancers
• Benign upper gastrointestinal tract conditions
• Obesity and weight loss surgery
• Revisional weight loss surgery
• Revisional upper gastrointestinal surgeries
• Minimally access surgery such as laparoscopic hernia repair, splenectomy
• General surgery conditions
Currently, he holds a consultant surgeon public appointment at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. At Royal Adelaide Hospital he is the lead surgeon for Bariatric Surgery services. He is also a current visiting surgeon to country hospitals in Whyalla and Port Augusta. He is a member of ANZGOSA and ANZMOSS.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Otago and completed general surgery training in New Zealand in 2013 with admission as Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He obtained a further three years of clinical fellowship experience in subspecialty areas of upper gastrointestinal surgery, weight loss surgery and minimally access surgery, with the final two years at University of Calgary teaching hospitals in Canada.
Dr Lee Keng TanGeneral Physician / Obstetric Medicine
Dr Lee Keng Tan is a general physician. She is an Obstetric Physician in Flinders Medical Centre and obtained her Obstetric Medicine Certificate with the Society of Obstetric Medicine Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ). In addition to general medicine, she is passionate about women’s health and managing medical issues in pregnancy. Patients find her approachable and easy to talk to.
Dr Shoba IyerGeriatrician
Dr Shoba is a geriatric medicine specialist and her specific areas of interest includes cognitive problems in the elderly, rationalising medication, acute care of the elderly, delirium, falls prevention and rehabilitation in the elderly.
In 2006, she completed her Fellowship and worked as a staff specialist geriatrician in the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from 2008 to 2011.
She was initially training to be a medical oncologist but changed specialty in 2005 to geriatrics. She completed her basic physician training in the Queen Elizabeth and Lyell McEwin Hospitals. She moved to Sydney where she worked for Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Concord Repatriation Hospital, Canterbury Hospital, Westmead Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital.
She enjoy the challenges and complexities of her work.
Tarik SammourColorectal Surgeon
Tarik Sammour is a surgeon with a specific interest in colorectal surgical oncology, complex pelvic malignancy, and robotic surgery. Having trained in Royal Melbourne Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he is passionate about combining surgical care with cutting-edge clinical research. He holds an Associate Professor position at the University of Adelaide, and a substantive public appointment with the Colorectal Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Anushia AshokanInfectious Diseases Specialist
Dr Ashokan is an infectious diseases physician who completed her basic and advanced training requirements in most tertiary hospitals across South Australia. She is currently also working part-time at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
She loves what she does and that comes across through her approach in providing the best possible patient-centred care.
In addition to her clinical interests, she has an active interest in research and public health. She is in her final stage of her PhD in Medicine, University of Adelaide which focussed on understanding the intersection between the hospital and patient microbiome. She is also in the midst of completing a Master’s in Public Health and Tropical Medicine through James Cook University in Queensland
